Advantages of Appearing in GATE?

The biggest question that the students might have in their mind is what are the advantages of appearing in GATE. There are many advantages of appearing in GATE for the students but the major advantages that such students will have are:

  • They can pursue Post Graduation degree in the course they desire as GATE scores are also accepted by the top technology and science Institutes for M.Tech admissions
  • The students can get into the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) on the basis of their GATE rank
  • Top GATE rank holders are offered scholarships in the M.Tech colleges

Who are More Likely to Qualify for GATE?

An old Dutch proverb says- With Hardwork, you can get the fire out of a stone which implies there is nothing in this Universe which can stop the students to crack GATE if they have put in the right amount of effort. Yet, there are certain types of students who are more likely to qualify GATE are:

  • Those who love doing research
  • Those aspiring to pursue higher studies in Science and Engineering in India
  • Those who possess sound technical skills
  • Those who aspire to study in IITs
  • Those who dream about indulging in development and research programmes

What if Not GATE?

One of the toughest and highly competitive exams in India, GATE receives lakhs of applicants every year out of which only a handful are selected. So what happens to those who are unable to qualify GATE? Do they have any other alternatives?

The answer to the questions posed above is “Yes”. There are several other entrance exams conducted all over India for M.Tech aspirants who missed the chance of qualifying for GATE by a whisker. Here is a list of other M.Tech entrance exams other than GATE:

  • Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET), Karnataka
  • Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)
  • BITS Higher Degree Entrance Exam (BITS HD)
  • SRM Graduate Engineering Entrance Test (SRMGEET)
  • VIT Master Engineering Entrance Exam (VIT MEE)
  • Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET)
  • Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MUOET)
  • JIIT Post Graduate Entrance Test (JIIT PGET)

The names of the well known postgraduate entrance tests have been given above. There are several other entrance tests conducted for offering admission into postgraduate courses in science and technology where GATE scores do not matter.
