SYSTEMATIC STUDY PLAN:

It is crucial for your preparation that you first hatch a study plan.

Make sure that whenever you sit to study, be clear and determined about the topics and sections you have decided to cover according to the time limit you have set every day.

Don't start haphazardly, make sure you prep-up all your paraphernalia at one place and be aware of the fact that your goal is not to mug up but to gain knowledge.

Follow the strategy of (U&L); Understanding and Learning. Too many cooks spoil the broth, so don’t prepare from different books, all at the same time.

Your command on basic topics should be excellent, until and unless the roots aren’t healthy, the plant will not bloom to its glory. Start with the MCQ’s and finally move forward to the subjective questions, do have a thorough glance at the GATE 2021 Syllabus for Mechanical Engineering (ME).

Also, have a look at the previous year’s question papers and try to solve them, so that you know where you stand. And always remember, working hard and smart both are the keys to success.

GATE Examination will be online mode, have three sections and will be based on MCQ’s and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. The exam will be of 100 marks which will include 65 questions and the duration is of 3 hours. The difficulty level is moderate, for 1 mark questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted every wrong answer, for 2 marks questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response. There is no negative marking for Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

SECTIONS:

A) General Aptitude B) Engineering Mathematics C) Subject/Technical (ME)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
1. As per the new guidelines, the minimum qualification which was 10+2+4 (last year) has come down to 10+2+3 for this year.

2. This means 3rd year candidates can apply and appear for the examination.
3. Other than that, one major change has occurred. Now candidates can opt for 2 subjects/papers from the prescribed set of combinations. Earlier candidates were allowed to apply only for 1 paper.
